Utilizing Smart Systems to Enhance the Sustainability of Egyptian Administrative Buildings

Smart buildings have grabbed the attention of researchers since 1980s. Until now, there has been no specific definition for smart buildings, which came from modern technologies and applications that rely on systems, significantly affecting construction industry. Based importance administrative building sector in Egypt, this study proposed a general framework enumerating systems positively impact at environmental, social, economic levels (the three key pillars sustainability). Various methods were used, including induction, descriptive, analysis, survey, deduction. It enumerated analyzed Egyptian context through case studies to reveal gap between their current situation one hoped its categories, Security Safety Systems, Auxiliary Entertainment Systems. The findings first category showed an average 47% security 67% safety systems. auxiliary was divided into five sub-categories, showing 39% climatic control 60% energy management 100% HVAC 50% lighting 56% water Finally, entertainment 42% Wi-Fi Internet 44% video surveillance sound intercom Therefore, these quantitative represent promising results motivate move forward direction by using improve sustainability buildings.
